THE PEACH/PEACHEY PROJECT The Electronic Peach Tree Issue 3 Editor: John Harding Peach Peachroot@aol.com

THE PEACH/PEACHEY CRUISE LINE READY TO LAUNCH

This Peach/Peachey Project is now only one month old, and we are now ready to launch out into the deep. Invitations have been sent and accepted by 164 through the first two issues of this "Electronic Peach Tree". So far, 42 of these have responded to the invitation by emailing me, indicating they want to be a part of this new project.

Using the analogy of a cruise ship (I hope none of you get sea-sick or have Titanic-phobia), I am ready to launch out into the deep with this project. We now have people on board on both sides of the Atlantic (The U.S.A., Canada, England and Africa) and on both sides of the Pacific(North America, Australia, New Zealand and even the Kingdom of Tonga).

If you have received an invitation (i.e.The Electronic Peach Tree), please respond by a simple email and let us know you are on board with us.

As we launch out into the deep, searching the deepest secrets of our priceless treasure (our genealogy), you will be a part of the navigation team that decides where this ship will sail.

We will go where you want to go and search what you want us to search. The oceans of knowledge are filled with sunken treasure of Peach/Peachey genealogy that is yet to be discovered. Other dives need to be taken to reopen treasures that need further observation and analysis.

Get on board by sending your R.S.V.P. right away. As we launch out into the deep for these priceless treasures, we want you on board. If you want to bring others with you, just send their email addresses to me, and they will be invited. Their is plenty of room on the ship for all.

THE FIRST TREASURES TO SEARCH

New Zealand Connections:

PAUL PEACH of New Zealand says his family moved from England in 1954 when he was only six years of old. And for some reason, while they raised him they did everything they could to keep him from making contact with his relatives in England. In 1976 he returned to England to find his roots, but to no avail.

We need to help Paul with his burden. We will seek to find anything he knows about where he came from in England or any other recollections. He has asked for email addresses of those in England. If you will send these to me, I will forward them to him. If you have any other ideas about how we might help Paul find his English roots, please let me know. What a priceless treasure this is!

Let's tie this together with the report from CRISTINA CHURCHILL in the last issue. Her father, THOMAS PEACHEY and family left England in the late 1800s for New Zealand and never returned to live. However, his oldest son, GEORGE PEACHEY, immigrated to Boston, MA in the U.S.A., where he raised his family.

Another priceless treasure would be to reunite this family in the U.S. with the original one in New Zealand, yea, even tying it back into the one with England. All this is possible now through this Electronic Peach Tree. Exciting possibilities!

Canada Connections:

DERON PEACH of Newfoundland in Canada is also in active pursuit of his roots. His family came from England at least five generations ago. He has traced this back as far as THOMAS PEACH who married twice and raised two families in Nova Scotia (Canada). Thomas had a son named HENRY PEACH (d.12/8/1944) who in turn had a son ROBERT AVERY PEACH (b.10/10/1910) and four other sons.

ROBERT AVERY PEACH was recognized as being one of the five fighting Peaches in the Canadian Navy during W.W.II. He lives in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. This is DERON PEACH's grandad. Deron's parents and their children live in Newfoundland. If anyone can help with Deron's research one either side of the Atlantic, please let me know.

Meanwhile, MARTIN RICHARD PEACH of Montreal, Quebec responded to my invitation, saying his dad lives in Nova Scotia. They moved from England as late as 1966, and according to Martin, his dad FRED PEACH is quite interested in their roots. He has traced his genealogy in England back to the 17th century. I am looking forward to finding out the treasure he has we haven't seen before. Priceless!

Let's not confuse this Martin with MARTIN PEACH, also of Canada, who had the query in last issue. His family came from Northamptonshire, England.

French Connections:

NANCY PECHE writes that her husband's ancestors were from France. Pedro (or Pierre) Peche came to Mexico from Rodez, France during the 1700s. We must realize that our common ancestor in England, WILLIAM de PECHE I, left a family back in England, who also carried the Peche surname. This carries our heritage beyond 1066 to France, especially Normandy, from where William descended.

English Connections:

Julian Peach of the Kingdom of Tonga (islands in the southwest Pacific ocean near New Zealand) tells about her English roots. Her great, great grandad lived in a rural area outside Cardiff, Wales. He was a wealthy dairy farmer from Somerset, England. When he fell in love with an upper class family (gentry) member, a Miss Hamilton, to marry her he had to agree to use the surname Hamilton-Peach. He agreed, but then in general usage always referred to himself as Mr. Peach.

Julian says, "We still use the official Hamilton-Peach, but generally use Peach only." She wants to know, "Are there any other Hamilton-Peach folk out there?" She still has relatives in England. If you can help her, please let me know.

DR. BARRY PEACHEY of Lincolnshire, England shares his ancestry in Essex, especially in Manuden, where the parish records are loaded with Peacheys. His greatgrandad was DAVID PEACHEY, who had a son, LEONARD PEACHEY, b.11/2/1885 in Manuden, Essex (quite near to Suffolk). Leonard married twice. His wives were sisters, and each of them gave him six childen. FRANK PEACHEY b.11/10/1915 at Harlow, Essex, was the fifth child of Leonard.

Dr.Peachey has a desire to chart a family tree showing how all these Peachey families in this area are related. He asked, "Have any of your researchers done this already?" This is another priceless treasure you may be able to help discover.

U.S.A. Connections:

SISTER ANNE THERESE PEACH writes from Pittsdon, PA about her heritage. She is from the New Jersey Branch, whose immigrant ancester came from Leicestershire, England.

WILLIAM J. LABRECHE of Stafford Springs, CT has helped organize a huge birthday reunion for a relative of his wife's family. BERTHA THOMAS PEACH was 100 years old on July 12, 1998. Congratulations, Bertha. Except for failing eyesight and hearing, she is in good health. Bill says Peaches came from all over America to honor her, with hundreds being present. What a gathering!

JANET WOODCOCK of Asheboro, NC was trying to find the roots of her husband's family. Although she had lived in Fauquier Co., VA she didn't realize that's where her husband's Peach line began. From there DANIEL and ELIZABETH PEACH's family migrated to Kentucky to become known as the Kentucky Branch.

THE PEACH TREE newsletter (printed version) is scheduled to be mailed no later than the first week of September. I want to reassure all my faithful subscribers that this electronic Peach Tree will in no wise replace the age- old printed version. If any thing, this will greatly enhance the printed version.

If you have asked for a sample copy, please be patient. For now, if you receive one it will be an older issue. No sample copies of my next Peach Tree will be sent until everyone gets theirs in late August or early September.

Yours till the next electronic Peach Tree.
