Lyrics:
FAIRY GODMOTHER
(spoken) Cinderella?
CINDERELLA
(spoken) Who are you?
FAIRY GODMOTHER
(spoken) I'm your fairy godmother.
CINDERELLA
(spoken) How beautiful you are!
FAIRY GODMOTHER
(spoken) I'm made of all of your most beautiful dreams and hope and wishes.
CINDERELLA
(spoken) Oh, fairy godmother, I have only one wish just now -- to go to the
ball. And I know it is impossible.
FAIRY GODMOTHER
(spoken) Impossible? Bah! What's a fairy godmother for?
CINDERELLA
(spoken) To make my wish come true.
FAIRY GODMOTHER
(spoken) If you wish it hard enough.
(spoken) Now, let me see. You'll need a coach and four horses and a coachman
and a groom.
CINDERELLA
(spoken) Is it possible to get those things by wishing for them?
FAIRY GODMOTHER
(spoken) Well, the sensible people of this world will say,
"Falderall and fiddle-dee-dee
And fiddle-dee-faddle-dee-foddle.
All the wishes in the world
Are poppycock and twoddle."
CINDERELLA
(spoken) Aren't they?
FAIRY GODMOTHER
(spoken) Not always.
(spoken) The sensible people will also say,
"Falderall and fiddle-dee-dee
And fiddle-dee-faddle-dee-foodle.
All the dreamers in the world
Are dizzy in the noodle."
CINDERELLA
(spoken) And aren't they?
FAIRY GODMOTHER
(spoken) Not always.
'specially when there is someone who loves you to help you.
(spoken) Now, to work!
For a coach, I believe I see pumpkin over there. That will do very nicely.
CINDERELLA
(spoken) A pumpkin?
FAIRY GODMOTHER
(spoken) Mmm... I see you have four pet mice in a cage. They'll do nicely for
the horses.
CINDERELLA
(spoken) Mice? For horses?
FAIRY GODMOTHER
(spoken) Uh-hmm...Now, let me see...Something's peering at us from under the
shrub. Oh, yes! It's a fine, white rat with
whiskers, and his brother. They'll do very nicely for the coachman and the
groom.
CINDERELLA
(spoken) Dear fairy godmother, it all seems so impossible.
FAIRY GODMOTHER
Impossible
For a plain yellow pumpkin to become a golden carriage.
Impossible
For a plain country bumpkin and a prince to join in marriage.
And four white mice will never be four white horses.
Such faldera and fiddle-dee-dee, of courses.
Impossible!
But the world is full of zanys and fools
Who don't believe in sensible rules.
And won't believe what sensible people say
And because these daft and dewy-eyed dopes
Keep building up impossible hopes.
Impossible
Things are happening everyday!
CINDERELLA
Impossible
FAIRY GODMOTHER
Impossible!
CINDERELLA
Impossible
FAIRY GODMOTHER
Impossible!
CINDERELLA
(spoken) And remember how very, very hard I am wishing.
FAIRY GODMOTHER
(sung)
Impossible
For a plain yellow pumpkin to become a golden carriage.
Impossible
For a plain country bumpkin and a prince to join in marriage.
And four white mice will never be four white horses.
CINDERELLA
They will!
FAIRY GODMOTHER
Such faldera and fiddle-dee-dee, of courses.
Impossible!
CINDERELLA
But the world is full of zanys and fools
Who don't believe in sensible rules.
And won't believe what sensible people say

FAIRY GODMOTHER
(spoken) Look!
CINDERELLA
(spoken) Oh! Oh! It is a golden coach! And four white horses! And a coachman!
And a groom!
FAIRY GODMOTHER
(spoken) You are going to the ball...
CINDERELLA
(spoken) Oh! Oh! My clothes...
FAIRY GODMOTHER
(spoken) Oh dear, how thoughtless of me... There!
CINDERELLA
(spoken) Oh, fairy godmother, how beautiful! I am dressed like a princess.
FAIRY GODMOTHER
(spoken) And here are your slippers.
CINDERELLA
(spoken) They're made of glass?
FAIRY GODMOTHER
(spoken) Put them on.
CINDERELLA
(spoken) They fit perfectly.
FAIRY GODMOTHER
(spoken) Now, you are ready for the ball!
(spoken) But there is one thing you must remember: You must leave before the
stroke of mindnight, for the magic will
last no longer.
CINDERELLA
(spoken) I will remember. Oh, fairy godmother, how wonderful it all is!
(sung)
It's possible
For a plain yellow pumpkin to become a golden carriage.
It's possible
For a plain country bumpkin and a prince to join in marriage.
FAIRY GODMOTHER
And four white mice are easily turned to horses.
Such faldera and fiddle-dee-dee, of courses.
Quite possible!
